Blake crouch wayward pines book 16/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Finding out the Japanese plans for Pearl Harbor on December 6th?.not even close. Knowledge of what Brutus has planned for Julius Caesar at the forum?.hmmm.nope. I was trying to think of something in the history of mankind that is a bigger secret. Recently appointed Sheriff Ethan Burke is carrying the granddaddy of all secrets. So the only way to keep a secret is to tell NO ONE. ![]() They swear that person to secrecy, and so on and so on until everyone you. ![]() This powerful urge, maybe with some help from some uninhibiting wine or soul exploding sex, will eventually gain the upper hand, and those locked away words will spill. You can swear someone to secrecy, but the same itch, the same need to tell someone that compelled you to tell them, is whispering to them from the corners of their brain. In the end, most of us end up telling somebody. As a species we aren’t really good at keeping secrets, even those rattling skeletons that could prove detrimental to our lives. We all have secrets we carry around with us. For every perfect little town, there’s something ugly underneath. Perfection all the time would drive them mad. ![]()

The ascendance trilogy book 46/29/2023 ![]() ![]() I think we played a good season in the Premier League. 'So, we are happy we are in the first four. ![]() 'We see Chelsea, they have massive, good squad with outstanding players. 'But this league is very strong, and there are many teams, many clubs, who are competing for the position and they all can do it because they have high budgets, good squads. 'I have always high expectations of myself and I think this club belongs in the Champions League, so you have to qualify in the first four,' Ten Hag reflected. Later, he shared that his own 'high expectations' had been met by his players, who could finish third on the final day of the season. It's not easy in the Premier League so a lot compete for that. Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, Ten Hag said: 'This club belongs in the Champions League. The former Ajax manager could still finish third in the table on the final day of the season ![]()

Altered carbon richard morgan6/29/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When he wrote Altered carbon in 2002, it was published by Gollancz and bought by Hollywood. He started writing novels, furious letters protesting magazine editorial pieces but they weren’t published and no one wanted to make the movie. At first, he was just writing idly and lazily while off but then, he spent one and a half year tying to get his screenplays taken seriously by movie makers. He pursued his ambition of becoming a writer, he started writing short stories, articles, screenplays. Because of traveling widely and living in Spain and Istanbul, he became a Spanish and English fluent speaker. Richard Morgan was a tutor at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, United Kingdom before he took off his writing career. He traveled back to United Kingdom then to Madrid, Spain. He read the literature, joined professional associations, signed up for further training, in-service and out. He stayed in that career for fourteen years. ![]() He entered the industry of English Language Teaching (ELT) and considered it as his accidental career. He believed that the way to learn English is through lessons from Native speakers so he did travel to Istanbul, Turkey. Totally screwed up his first year at Queen’s College, Cambridge University, he shifted his studies to History with a political/philosophical slant.Īs a teenager, he had an ambition of traveling and wanted to be a writer. He had been brought up in Hethersett, which is a dormitory village. Born Januin London, England, the United Kingdom. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() And then there was the book he’d written for fun while working at a library in Cincinnati: “The Mysterious Benedict Society.” First, there was “Flood Summer,” a serious piece of fiction that had been years in the works, sprung from two previously abandoned novels, one of which had morphed from an even earlier short story. (“Or if you are 11 or 12 years old, to be yourself.”)Īnd then, within a six-week span in 2005, he got word that two books he’d written had been sold. ![]() He explained that he’d be doing voices, and that “there is no cool way to read a children’s book to a roomful of adults - you understand that, I hope … You can’t be cool while this happens.” For that reason, he urged them to channel their inner 11- or 12-year-old. He told them that he was going to read to them as if he were reading a bedtime story to his own children. “And yet, I finally did that.”īefore he started reading from the latest installment in the series, the then-unpublished “The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Riddle of Ages,” Stewart again addressed the disparity between the present audience and the audience for whom he’d written the book. ![]() “The other thing that I never thought that I would do was return to the ‘Mysterious Benedict Society’ series,” he said, referring to the hit book series that had earned him international acclaim and a then-in-the-works television adaptation, which has since premiered on Disney Plus. ![]()

Peter bunzl books6/28/2023 ![]() I was reading about clockwork robots from history. ![]() The three friends must use every ounce of their courage and cunning to face a series of life-threatening mysteries! What inspired the Cogheart Adventures? Set in Victorian times, in a steampunk world where people travel to work on airships and have clockwork mechanical servants, the books follow the adventures of Lily, the fiery and quick-witted daughter of two world famous inventors, Robert, a talented and thoughtful clockmaker’s apprentice, and Malkin, an over-opinionated, mechanical fox. But I like to say: I have always been a writer, and now I’m an author too. My first professional book Cogheart, was published when I was forty - a long time later. Those were my first books and a great way to start. Finally I would fold and staple the pages together to make a book to share. ![]() ![]() I’d come up with characters and an adventure, and write and illustrate my story. I used to write picture books and comics for my mum, dad and sister. ![]()

The edible woman book6/28/2023 ![]() ![]() Ainsley is a loud, outspoken feminist who drinks liberally and leads an active sex life that she flaunts and talks often about to Marian and her coworkers. The two women rent the apartment from the "lady down below," who is highly critical of the two women's lifestyle-although most of the behavior that she disapproves of, like their drinking, is actually attributable to Ainsley, not Marian-partially due to her fear of their "improper" behavior influencing her daughter. Marian McAlpin lives in an apartment that she shares with one roommate, Ainsley, in an unnamed city in Canada. It uses food, and Marian's growing inability to consume various foods after her engagement to Peter due to imagined metaphorical cannibalism, to explore female experiences in society. Set in an unnamed city in Canada, the novel focuses on themes of gender, expectations of women, masculinity and femininity, and female agency. The Edible Woman revolves around Marian McAlpin, a young woman who experiences a crisis of identity after her boyfriend, Peter, proposes to her. ![]() |
